Organic Free-Range Eggs

THE BEST EGG FOR HEALTH-CONSCIOUS

HEN-LOVING FAMILIES

Nature’s Yoke Organic Free-Range Eggs are USDA Certified Organic.

Raised on small family farms with lots of latitude to roam, our organic free-range hens are fed an all-organic, non-GMO diet that makes their eggs as organic as they are.

Plus, our organic free-range farms are Certified Humane (as are all our free-range egg farms), so both our hens and the organic free-range brown eggs they lay are cared for at the highest standard.

In fact, we put the same care and love into our organic free-range eggs that you put into the choices you make for your family.

So, if eating organic matters to you, you can trust that supporting your choice matters just as much to us.

We know there’s lots of misinformation about organic free-range eggs out there – HERE'S A FEW FACTS TO HELP YOU SORT IT OUT:

To be called organic, eggs must come from hens that are fed a 100% organic diet and no genetically modified foods.

Our organic free-range hens eat well-balanced, all-organic feed that includes a variety of proteins, grains, vitamins and minerals, plus ingredients for supporting digestive health and more.

Additionally, organic hens must live in cage-free environments and have plenty of access to the outdoors where they can also nibble on pesticide-free plants, as well as insects.

On our free-range organic farms, the outdoor areas are pasture-like and our hens are protected from predators through safe fencing.

Stored in the refrigerator, organic eggs last just as long as conventional eggs — about 66 weeks past the time they were placed in the carton or 3 to 4 weeks past the “sell by” date stamped on the end of your carton.

While some experts say eggs last much longer (and while we do agree with those experts, as long as the eggs are stored properly), we encourage you to follow the “sell by” date guidelines.

Organic eggs are definitely worth the price if eating organic matters to you, and if you care about the humane treatment of hens.

Thanks to the high standards set for the treatment of the organic hens (especially Certified Humane organic hens) and for their diets, organic eggs help you check all your boxes.

Simply put, organic free-range eggs are good for you — and the organic lifestyle is good for the hens!

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), free-range means hens have access to the outdoors for part of the day, whether they decide to go outside or not. There are no requirements for the length of time the hens have access to the outdoors or for the quality of their outdoor areas.

The National Chicken Council reports that less than 1% of hens nationwide are raised free-range. At Nature’s Yoke, we’re proud to not only raise free-range hens, but also to raise them only on Certified Humane free-range farms.

Certified Humane requires free-range hens to have access to the outdoors for at least 6 hours each day and their outdoor spaces must be covered with vegetation so the hens can nibble on plants and insects.

Certified Humane free-range hens must also have indoor spaces with elevated perches and roomy nesting boxes — neither of which are required for regular (non-Certified Humane) free-range or cage-free hens.

The Certified Humane free-range farms we choose to partner with have pasture-like outdoor areas and meet all the Certified Humane indoor requirements that reduce stress and crowding. It’s Certified Humane’s free-range outdoor and indoor standards combined that encourage the hens’ natural behaviors, making their lives comfortable.

See photos of our free-range hens enjoying life on their Certified Humane free-range farms.

Pasture-raised hens must have at least 108-square-feet of outdoor space per hen, and the hens are let outside early and come in when the sun starts to set.

Their eggs are also much pricier.

Nature’s Yoke Organic Free-Range Eggs are good choice for those who want to eat organic and who also care about the ethical treatment of hens, but don’t want to spend as much.

By our choice, all our free-range eggs are Certified Humane. This means our free-range farms meet a higher standard for both outdoor and indoor spaces than free-range and cage-free farms that have not earned the Certified Humane seal.

Specifically, our Certified Humane free-range farms have pasture-like outdoor spaces and comfortable indoor spaces — both of which enable our free-range hens to do all things hens naturally love to do.

Take a look at our Certified Humane free-range farms and you’ll discover you can feel very good about choosing Nature’s Yoke Free-Range Eggs over pasture-raised eggs, and save a little money too.
